Crime News : అమెరికాలోని కాలిఫోర్నియాలో దారుణ సంఘటన చోటుచేసుకుంది. భారత సంతతికి చెందిన శాలిని ఠాకూర్ అనే 38 ఏళ్ల మహిళను భారతీయ యువకుడు దారుణంగా హత్య చేశాడు. శాక్రమెంటోలోని ఓ రెస్టారెంట్ బయట రోహిత్(22) అనే యువకుడు శాలినిని వెంబడించి కాల్చి చంపడం కలకలం రేపింది. స్థానికులు ఇచ్చిన సమాచారంతో నిందితున్ని పట్టుకునేందుకు పోలీసులు ప్రయత్నించారు. రద్దీగా ఉండే హైవేపై పోలీసులు పట్టుకునే క్రమంలో అతడు తనను తాను కాల్చుకుని ఆత్మహత్య చేసుకున్నాడు. కాగా, రోహిత్ దాదాపు ఏడాది కాలంగా శాలిని వెంటాడి వేధించి.. పెళ్లికి ఒప్పుకోవడం లేదనే కారణంతో ఆమెను చంపినట్లు తెలుస్తోంది.

KCRA 3 reported, “The Department of Homeland Security confirmed Friday the man who investigators say stalked a woman for months before executing her in a Panera Bread parking lot in Sacramento this week was in the country illegally.
The victim was 38-year-old Shalini Thakur and her mother has said authorities failed to protect her.
A spokesperson for DHS said Thakur’s killer, 22-year-old Rohit Rohit, was from India and entered the United States through Arizona in 2023. He was arrested by the U.S. Border Patrol and released by the Biden administration, according to the spokesperson. The exact details around his immigration status were not immediately clear as of Friday.
Federal court records online showed his case was pending. The records showed no appeal had been received for his case and there were no hearings scheduled.
Rohit killed himself amid a standoff with police on Highway 50 after the shooting. The scene left traffic at a standstill for hours.
“This illegal alien from India harassed, stalked, and then killed a 38-year-old woman in California, and then took his own life when police caught up to him,” said a DHS spokesperson. “This tragedy would have been completely avoided if it weren’t for the Biden Administration RELEASING this killer into our country. Sanctuary politicians must put an end to reckless policies that play Russian roulette with American lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and her family.”
California’s sanctuary state law, commonly referred to as SB 54, limits local law enforcement’s ability to cooperate with immigration officials when an undocumented immigrant is accused of a crime.”

కాగా ఈ ఘటనకు ముందు షాలినీతో రోహిత్ దాదాపు గంటసేపు మాట్లాడినట్లు తెలుస్తోంది. అదే సమయంలో తను ఫోన్ చేస్తే.. 15 నిమిషాల్లో కాల్ చేస్తానని చెప్పి కాల్ కట్ చేసిందని తెలుస్తోంది. శాక్రమెంటో ప్రాంతంలో శాలిని ఉద్యోగం చేస్తుండగా, రోజు మాదిరిగానే విధుల నిమిత్తం వెళ్తున్న ఆమెను రెస్టారెంట్ వద్ద రోహిత్ అడ్డగించాడని పోలీసులు తెలిపారు. కాసేపు శాలినితో రోహిత్ వాగ్వాదం పెట్టుకున్నట్లు స్థానికులు తెలిపారు. అతడి నుంచి తప్పించుకుని పారిపోతున్న శాలినిపై రోహిత్ పలుమార్లు కాల్పులు జరిపినట్లు తెలిపారు. ఆమె కిందపడిన తర్వాత కూడా వదల కుండా దగ్గరగా వచ్చి తలపై మరోసారి కాల్పులు జరిపి అక్కడి నుంచి వెళ్లిపోయాడు.
దీంతో శాలిని అక్కడికక్కడే మరణించినట్లు దృవీకరించారు. సమాచారం అందుకున్న పోలీసులు ఘటన స్థలికి చేరుకుని ప్రత్యక్ష సాక్ష్యులు ఇచ్చిన సమాచారంతో నిందితుడిని వెంబడించారు. ఈ క్రమంలోనే అక్కడే ఓ ఆగి ఉన్న కారులో రోహిత్ శవమై కనిపించాడు. దీంతో తనను తాను కాల్చుకుని చనిపోయి ఉంటాడని పోలీసులు బావిస్తున్నారు.. ఈ ఘటనపై కేసు నమోదు చేసిన పోలీసులు దర్యాప్తు చేస్తున్నారు.
